Montreal, May 3, 2021 – The community supporting entrepreneurs in Greater Montreal comes together to honor the most promising Montreal businesses during the 23rd Gala of the OSEntreprendre Montréal Challenge, organized by the École des entrepreneurs du Québec.
Back in force, the Business Creation component of the OSEntreprendre Challenge once again honored the city's emerging entrepreneurs during this 23rd regional final, which connected more than 130 participants for an online gala.
Among the 170 projects submitted, 19 grants totaling $39,000 were awarded to start-up companies now in the running for the grand national final. These companies were chosen for their innovative, creative nature or for their social impact.
“I would like to highlight the resilience of these entrepreneurs in these unprecedented times and congratulate the courage of those who launched a business this year. Despite a difficult context, the entrepreneurial intention rate remained high, particularly among women and immigrants. It is their projects that will shape the future of our societies, in the face of our collective challenges such as this health crisis or the climate crisis. The City is also working in this direction, to encourage an economic recovery that is greener and more inclusive. », underlined, François Limoges, city councilor of the Saint-Édouard district, leader of the majority, vice-president of the Council Presidency Commission and member of the Metropolitan Community of Montreal, representative of the cabinet of Mayor Valérie Plante .
New this year, the Doing Business Together component highlights companies that stand out through the evolution of their procurement practices with local suppliers.
“Entrepreneurs are changing the face of the world and making us proud! The OSEntreprendre Challenge exists in recognition of all these business creators who pursue their ambitions and form the economic landscape of Montreal in all its diversity and creativity. We are here to help them grow. ", mentioned Michel Fortin, general director of the École des entrepreneurs du Québec, coordinator of the OSEntreprendre Challenge in Montreal.
The Réussite prize inc. awarded a $7,500 grant to a former participant in the OSEntreprendre Challenge, a company with 5 years of activity and whose journey combines five aspects of success: achievements, values, finances, perspectives and team.
The winners of the two categories listed below will represent the Montreal region during the national final of the competition which will take place on June 9.
Also for this 23rd edition several special prizes were awarded thanks to partners. “The influence of the OSEntreprendre Challenge is the result of close collaboration between various local and regional partners and sponsors.
